There are only a few days left for you to be able to start signing up for Obamacare. The Marketplace will be open in many states, and you will soon be able to learn about the various healthcare options available in your state, and get signed up. The steps needed to get your coverage after January 1, 2014 can be performed rather easily.
Open an Account
The first thing that you need to do when signing up for Obamacare is to create a new account. You can do this after October 1, 2013 by going to the official HealthCare.gov MarketPlace website. This is where you will register and learn more about the various options available in your home state. Spanish speaking people can register at cuidadodesalud.gov/es/. You will have up until March 31, 2014 to get the required coverage for you and your family. Open enrollment closes after that date, and you will receive a fine if you sign up after this date.
Information You Will Need to Sign Up for Obamacare
Once you get registered, the next step is to apply. In order to do this, you will need to enter your personal information. There is a Checklist of documents you will need on the HealthCare.gov website. This information includes your Social Security numbers, job information, such as the employer and income information of each person in your household, who needs coverage, policy numbers of existing health insurance plans, and information about your employer’s health coverage. You will need to fill out a form for each of the employers plans you or other household members are enrolled in.
The LonelyConservative.com website warns that the information you put on your applications will be reviewed by at least three Federal organizations. One of them will be the IRS.
Review and Select a Health Plan
After you are registered and have entered your basic information, you will need to look over the various health plans and choose one. You will be able to compare the various plans to what you already have to determine which ones may enable you to lower the cost of your insurance premiums, or give you less out-of-pocket costs. Or, you may be able to get a plan that will help you get better coverage than what you already have.
Different companies will be offering coverage through the same Marketplace. You will need to experiment with the numbers to see which one gives you the best deal and coverage for the price. Do not assume that each plan is the same, or that they will all cost the same. That just is not true.
Sign Up for Your New Health Care Coverage
After reviewing several health coverage options from different companies, you will select the plan you want. Be sure to remember that coverage does not begin until January 1, 2014, so if you need coverage prior to that date, you will need to look at some kind of private health plan.
The Government has assigned various companies in each state to serve as “Navigators,” which are people at various health insurance companies. These people will gladly answer questions you have about signing up for Obamacare and how to go about it. You can also sign up for an email newsletter from the primary HealthCare.gov website that will give you updates about the program.
